Contacts

Dr. Vanoy treats contact lenses as the medical devices that they are.  Much care and consideration is given to the proper fit and type of material used, as well the life-style and work habits of the candidate.  Careful care and consideration is given to the candidate as well, if Dr. Vanoy does not believe that the patient will properly care for the contacts and wear them in a manner necessary for proper eye health, a prescription will not be given and contacts will not be dispensed.

Based on patients wearing habits, dry eye status, allergies, and disposal compliance, Dr. Vanoy typically prescribes contacts (brands) that are disposed of monthly, but may ask that they be changed on an earlier schedule.  Daily disposable contacts are a great alternative to patients and are quite economical when you consider the cost and time of cleaning and storage solutions.  Bi-monthly or 2 week contacts are prescribed from time-to-time, but only with patients that follow the disposal schedule well.  Night and Day or 30-day continuous wear contact lenses are rarely prescribed.

Most patients wear Spherical contacts, or those contacts that only correct near or far-sightedness.  These contacts are great for those patients that have little or no astigmatism.  If a patient requires correction for astigmatism, there is a great selection of Toric lenses available to doctors now.  Dr. Vanoy regularly fits all types of lenses, spherical, toric, monovision, multifocals (bifocal), and now we even have toric multifocals available.  Ask the doctor what lens options are right for you.
